Marley and Whitney (Engagement)
Monday, November 29th, 2010
Marley and Whitney are to be wed in 2012, on a beautiful, flowered, estate. During my initial meeting with them, we sat down at a local ice cream parlor loved by them, but unknown to me and over a heated game of scrabble we began to hash out the details of the photo shoot. During the meeting a very obvious playfulness became apparent, seated on a much deeper rooted love for each other. It was apparent in the glances they gave each other across the assorted pieces, and as we talked about who they are, their interests, jobs, hobbies, how they met, I slowly learned more about them.
We talked about costume ideas, props (unfortunately their rabbit did not join us in the shoot), locations, etc all while enjoying the delicious ice cream. Knowing how fickle Seattle weather can be, we blocked out two dates for the shoot, and parted ways, each to think more about the engagement shoot.
Washington somehow pulled through the day of the shoot and we were greeted by a thin layer of patchy clouds with intermittent rays of light that gleamed across the orange and yellow fall leaves. It was beautiful photography weather!
We had a full hour jam packed with locations and ideas, which, luckily were all within comfortable walking distance of each other. Starting in Cal Anderson Park, we took advantage of the leaves and the fountain there. A quite spirited but mock balloon sword fight broke out between the two, which I was lucky enough to capture in full color! Sprinting to the restrooms for a quick change, we ran across Broadway to Seattle Central Community College where my lovely models posed on and next to the art erected there. It was there that we got a chance to look at the simple yet elegant rings that both wore, and took a few pictures nestled in the leaves.
As the sun moved toward the horizon, and with two locations left, we sprinted to Elliot Bay Book Company for some pictures within their knowledge-laden shelves. And just in time to catch the last of the beautiful sun, we visited one of the many murals on Capitol Hill (article about the mural in particular: Seattle PI), which we had actually started at, but arrived to find photographic competition!
Here are the much-awaited photos-weeks after the couple got them of course
